We don't know much about Hugh Quinn, Sr. or his wife Margaret who emigrated from County Armaugh, Ireland with their 5 children.  We do know that Hugh was awarded his first land grant in Mecklenburg County,North Carolina in 1766.  Records show that he later obtained a 400 acres grant on the south side of the broad river. This area is on the border of North and South Carolina. At some point the last name went from O'Quinn in Ireland to simply Quin in the Americas! We know quite a bit about Peter Fondren Quin, Hugh's oldest son and our direct ancestor.  See the next page to learn all about our connection to this dashing Revolutionary War soldier and his amazing life married to Judith Robinson Quin.
