William Alan Mixon was born on July 24, 1931 in Newark, NJ. Bill was known for his keen mind, but especially for his rather naughty exploits! His little sister Marian idolized her brother, and they had many hours of torture/fun!  Bill graduated from Scotch Plains High School and entered the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance.  He rowed Crew and played Varsity football.

Here are some scenes from Bill's young life!
The following story of Bill's life is lovingly written by his mother, Ella Quin and his sister, Marian Alford Mixon Houk.  It tells of a vibrant, handsome young man who lived a big life in a short amount of time.  The last page of this is one of the most touching letters I have ever read from Bill to his little sister Marian while he was living abroad.

Here are some photos of Bill as a young man.  He married Colleen Deon Carter on June 25, 1960.  They lived in San Rafael, California.  They welcomed two beautiful children into their lives; William Carter Mixon on April, 4, 1963 and Stephanie Alford Mixon on January 29, 1966.  Bill became ill in 1968 and died December 14, 1968.  He was only 37 years old. He is buried with so many other Quin relatives, in Hollywood Cemetary in McComb.

Little Billy and Stephanie!
This beautiful Christmas story written by Ella Quin in 1932 details her son Bill's second Christmas!  The preface was written by Marian A. M. Houk shortly after Bill's death.  Please read, it really shows what an outstanding person Ella Quin was.
